I've been going back and forth on my coffee intake over the past few months. I used to have a Starbucks Venti Americano every morning, but then decided to see what life would be like without coffee. So I didn't have any coffee for about 2 weeks. The first 3-4 days was hard, but after that I felt really good. Now I'm back to a cup every 2-3 days per week.
I just decided that I really enjoy coffee in the mornings, and that I'll continue to drink it. I'm just going to cut back.
It's really hard to beat a cup of joe in the morning.

I'm Back!
I know, it's been quite a while since my last blog, but I've been a busy guy...LAME!!
Anyway, I won't go into everything that's happened since I last blogged, but I will divulge some of the new happenings in my life.
Music is making a comeback in my life. I'm involved in two music related programs every week:
StarTime is a family worship time at our church where Courtney and I lead the singing. We sing, jump, and wave our arms to help the kids get into the worship time. It's a fun time, and we love being involved in leading families in worship together.
I'm also playing my new acoustic guitar for the Jr. High Praise band at church. Our first performance (I wish I had a better word) was this past Wednesday night. It all went quite well. A lot better than I expected, honestly. We've got a pretty good sound going, and it's been a lot of fun getting back into music. I took guitar lessons for 8 years as a kid, and grew up playing in church and in bands, but music took a back seat as I started my career, marriage, and family.
So I'm really enjoying these new ministry opportunities, and am excited to see where they go.
Dang, it's almost 2am. I better hit the sack. I hope all that made some sort of sense. My mind at this hour could say some strange things.
Out.

5 Years Today
I can hardly believe it was 5 years ago, today, when Courtney and I were married. The time has flown by so fast! Although, I can't really remember life before Courtney, and I can't imagine life without her. It is so awesome being married to your best friend.
Courtney is the person I always dreamed about sharing my life with. She is amazing! The fact that she can deal with Little John all day, have time to do laundry, keep the house clean, and keep up with a Blog just blows me away. Anyone who says being a stay-at-home mom is easy is smoking something! There's no way I could do what she does day-in and day-out.
So there are all things things that she does for me and Little John, but our relationship is much more than that. When we are together, life just feels complete. We are completely at ease with each other and can sit and talk for hours about anything and everything. I can talk to her about things on my heart that only she can understand because we are truly one. She works so hard to understand me, encourage me, support me, and love me. These are the things I love most about her. I love the way she knows me, and loves me, better than anyone, and makes me want to become a better husband and father. She is a true Proverbs 31 woman.
There will never be anyone else I could spend my life with that could bring me as much joy as Courtney has. The Bible says that whoever finds a wife finds a good thing. Well, I found a good thing in Courtney, and will spend the rest of my life here on earth enjoying the love we share.
I love you, babe!
Happy Anniversary,
John

Apple Cider Vinegar
I've been hearing that Apple Cider Vinegar is good for you, and that taking a couple teaspoons a day is advantageous. So I had Courtney buy me a bottle a few weeks ago. I hadn't taken it yet, though, because I really don't like the smell.
Well, this morning I decided to go for it! I poured a teaspoon full, and gulped it down...DUDE! I thought I had just swallowed fire! It burned for a little while, but stopped. I must say that I felt pretty good after the burning stopped.
I then read the bottle and there's a recipe for taking it as a drink: "Mix with 8oz of water and some honey". I think that'll be a lot more bearable tomorrow morning.
So if you're ever in the mood to take some vinegar, make sure you put it in some water first.

It's a GIRL
We had our sonogram yesterday, and to our surprise, we're having a girl! Courtney and I really thought it was going to be another boy, but we were wrong. We are so excited about having a girl, though!!
I have to admit that I'm a little nervous about having a girl. Since my sister, brother, and I were really close in age, I never had little siblings around, so I was really new at all that with Little John. I got over my nervousness pretty quickly, though, because knowing how to treat/deal with a boy comes naturally, since I'm one too. But a GIRL...whoa! I really don't have any idea what's coming.
Courtney told me to just treat the new baby like I treat her, and things will be great. So I'll just go with that plan for now, and I'm sure I'll get over the nervousness soon enough.
Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited about a girl! I'm sure she will have me wrapped around her finger in no time. I really can't wait.

Giving the Slip
This morning I was driving to work, heading down the main road leading out of our housing development, when I spotted him - Smokey, 2:00! I looked down and noticed I was doing 45 MPH. I looked up and saw the 35 MPH sign staring me in the face. I remained calm and pretended not to notice the cop, but he noticed me. He started making a u-ee and I panicked. The road ahead started to curve and I realized the cop would be out of sight in a couple seconds. So I did what any law-abiding citizen would do, FLOORED IT! I made a quick right into a neighborhood, then my first left where I ended up in a a cul-de-sac. I thought I was done for. I started to conjure up a good excuse for what I had just done, but nothing came to mind. I waited for a few seconds...no sign of him. I crept out of the neighborhood, heart racing, wondering if he was waiting for me at the next intersection...still no sign of him. I decided to chance it and get back onto my route to work. SUCCESS (depending on how you define the word)! I made it all the way to work undetected.
So now let me share my justification for my actions. I'm really not a speeder. I do make conscious effort to obey the speed limit. This mornings 10 over was an accident. Had I been late and was speeding on purpose I would have just pulled over and taken my medicine (this is what I usually do). But this morning I just panicked, and the adventurer in me took over. Plus, I really didn't want to pay $150+ dollars for an accident.
Drive safe!
